Bole Ma

I am a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, where I am a proud member of the i2lab, advised by Professor Stanley Chan. Prior to joining Purdue, I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.

My research interests lie at the intersection of Computer Vision and Computational Imaging. Currently, I am focused on developing robust and physics-anchored deep learning frameworks for specialized vision tasks, with a particular emphasis on Monocular Metric Depth Estimation and geometric modeling. I advocate for “first-principles” and gray-box AI models that integrate explicit physical and geometric constraints over pure black-box end-to-end approaches.
